Vermont ready to auction used tractors, other equipment

Friday, May 7, 2010

News Article Photo An auction in Vermont will feature used tractors and other items for bid.

Used tractors and other pieces of equipment will be on display during Vermont's yearly auction.

According to the Burlington Free Press, more than 90 items will be auctioned on Saturday, May 8, including used tractors, automobiles box trucks and snowmobiles. The items come with a report on their condition, so attendants know what they are bidding on.

"Each item will be sold to the highest bidder as is, but the state doesn’t hide the flaws or defects," the Free Press said.

The state wants to make between $400,000 and $450,000 through the auction. Generally, items are place out to bid because the state has purchased new equipment. Many of the pieces being auctioned still have plenty of usability left.

While Vermont prepares for its auction, another one was recently held in Iowa. Jeff Geiger has run his auction for 13 years and allows consumers to bid on items twice every year, once in the spring and again in the fall.

Hundreds of people took part in the auction in Iowa, which in the past has featured antique farm equipment and other implements.ADNFCR-2034-ID-19764977-ADNFCR
